3

Watch: how to add ImageMCP to Claude
Claude's interface changes regularly. Anthropic updates Claude monthly so button labels and screen layouts may look slightly different from screenshots. The steps are the same: sign up → add API key → generate URL → paste into Claude → set tools to Always approve.
Create your account and add your API key
Go to imagemcp.net/login.aspx and create your account. After logging in, open MCP Settings.
ImageMCP works with three model providers — add whichever you have an API key for. You can add all three or just one:
OpenRouter
AtlasCloud
Wiro (uncensored)
Paste your API key into the matching field in MCP Settings. Once saved, click Generate URL to create your personal connector URL. Keep this URL private — it contains your access token.
Add the connector to Claude
In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste your ImageMCP URL into the URL field. Name the connector IMAGEMCP. Click Continue.
On the next screen the authentication type will show as None — Detected. This is correct — your personal token is already embedded in the URL, so no separate login is needed. Click Add connector.
Claude will warn that "anyone with access to this URL can use it." This is expected — your URL already contains your personal token. Treat it like a password and don't share it.
Click Connect, then set tools to "Always approve"
After adding the connector, Claude shows the connector detail screen with a Connect button. Click it to activate.
Once connected you'll see IMAGEMCP in the connector list with a Disconnect button — that means it's active.
Now find the Read-only tools and Write tools sections. Change both from Needs approval to Always approve. This lets Claude call tools automatically in the flow of a conversation without a confirmation popup for every single request.
Why is this safe? ImageMCP only generates and saves media to your account — it never modifies anything outside of that. Always approve just removes the per-call confirmation popup so generation flows naturally in conversation.
Test the connection
Start a new Claude chat and type:
Ping IMAGEMCP
You should get back a confirmation that ImageMCP is connected with your available models listed. Then try your first real generation:
Generate a cinematic portrait of a red fox in a misty forest, 9:16 vertical
Claude will call ImageMCP, generate the image, and return a direct URL saved to your account — ready to use anywhere.
Not sure which model to use? Just ask Claude: "What image models do I have available?" — it will list everything enabled under your API keys.
